I rescued a 6 week old chihuahua puppy.?

I rescued a 6 week old puppy, he wakes me up like every 4 hours starving. I've been feeding it little ceaser beef flavored wet dog food. What else should I do to care for him.I rescued a 6 week old chihuahua puppy.?
Firstly I really wish ppl that have no heart could not reply.

I think rescuing a puppy if it can no longer be with its mother is a possitive thing and good for you. I would take the puppy to the vet to start off with. Some vets will let you pay off any services they provide so look into that. A dry puppy food is a good idea and if they cannot eat it because of size or interest, moisten it with puppy milk, or evaporated milk in a can, so its soft and still has all the nutrients needed. Good quality dry puppy food is best. Puppies at that age will still want their mother, even older puppies brought home can cry during the night. Make sure it has a warm, dry safe place to sleep and play, limit noise because he will already be frightened in his new surroundings. Puppy milk can also help fill the puppy and make him sleep better and its packed full of everything he needs. Chihuahua puppies can get hypogylcemia so if he starts to look lathargic mix a little sugar in water and feed that. you can use small plastic syringes if he doesnt want to lap at it.

I have two chihuahuas and my female had a puppy 2 and a half weeks ago and its hard work waking up at all hours in the night i know. My female had to have a c section and lost a kidney in the process she desperatly wanted to feed and make the puppy suck but no milk was produced so my partner and i tag team the nightly feeds.

It sounds like your doing a good job, not many ppl would devote that much time, but you will be rewarded with a puppy who really loves you. Perhaps you could also monitor the weight to make sure he is gaining still 20 grams a week for a chihuahua puppy is an average. Make sure food is always at hand. You can also put a stuffed toy dog into the bed with him and he can snuggle up it, like a surrogate mother. Good luck and don't worry about the abuse.

For the abusers, What honestly makes this person unworthy of having this puppy, she is trying and thats all that be asked perhaps save the abuse for the person to take the puppy away from the mother in the first place and let the dog breed with no desire to do the right thing.I rescued a 6 week old chihuahua puppy.?
Sorry to say this, but since he is only 6 weeks which is EXTREMELY young and no breeder would let their puppy leave before 8 weeks, you will probably continue to get woken up every 4 hours for a while. The poor guy probably misses his mom, needs to poo, and is hungry all at once! I think the only thing that will solve this problem is time. The puppy needs to grow a little and be able to hold it through the night. Once hes older, you wont need to feed him as often also.
What do you mean rescued the pup, where did you get it?

If you found it, you need to let your shelter know and take pix to them and advertize so the owner will have a good chance to find the pup.

It is very young and you are lucky if it is 4 hours between feedings and potty times etc.

Get a good puppy food and for a small breed, canned is best at this age. feed that and the good news is that pups mature very fast and in a couple of weeks it will be about 6 hours between food and potty times and then by 10 weeks it will be 3 feedings a day and the possibility of a few 8 hour nights for potty.

At 4 to 5 months put the pup on two feedings a day and watch for the time the pup goes potty after feeding so you can set feeding times to work with your schedule and be able to complete potty training for your pup.

Be sure to start the shots right away so a trip to the vets should be soon. Do not put the pup down anywhere you do not know is free from parvo, distemper, lepto, and corona germs and that includes all areas of the vets office except the sterilized exam table.I rescued a 6 week old chihuahua puppy.?
He's a six week old small breed puppy. He shouldn't be eating little caesar, he needs a high-protein based healthy food. A good food would be Taste of the Wild, which is an all life stages natural food. IF you are tight on money, please get the best brand you can afford and fill his bowl to the top. It's crucial to free feed at his age. Puppies should NOT leave their mother and litter until 8 weeks old, so these are vital stages for him. Allow him access to a high quality food whenever he needs it!
For right now give it lots of "Small" meals all day long,

Take it out side every time you feed it to help get it started on potty training.

Keep it warm and it's tummy full. Find a better quality food for puppies only.

Good for you rescuing and saving a life.I rescued a 6 week old chihuahua puppy.?
Well, you should either take it to a vet, or a shelter.

Its best if you take it to a vet, so you know what you

can do for it. Give your attention to it. =]

I dont think you should advertise it because anyone

can take, its best if you take it to a shelter.
Take him back to his mother. Should be at least 8 weeks before you take him from mother. Let someone who knows something about dogs adopt him.
